Derby Dolls Boot Camp

San Diego Derby Dolls has a multi-tier training system. After attending orientation, new athletes in the program join a 3 level Boot Camp training to groom them into great skaters. After graduating from Boot Camp, they move on to become full-fledged league members show are eligible to join the subpool and then later drafted to home and travel teams.

The roller derby bootcamp is divided into 3 different levels, designed to teach you everything from the bottom up, literally!

Level 1 covers the most basic skills need to learn the sport of roller derby. These techniques will become the foundation blocks to develop new skaters into great roller derby players. Stride, posture, knee-slides and snow plows are among the skills bootcampers learn in their first few classes.

Level 2 will begin to develop agility and speed on the track as well as move roller derby related skills. Jumps, transitions and positional blocking are among the more advanced skills covered in this level. This is when strategy and plays will begin to start becoming more clear as skaters practice and watch games and scrimmages.

Level 3 is when a skater really starts to play some roller derby and full-body contact. Learning different techniques for blocking and assisting, as well as being invited to participate in certain practices and scrimmages with the league members! Once skaters have fulfilled their requirements in this level, she will be initiated as a full-fledged Derby Doll! Where a skater's voyage to becoming a great roller derby player will ramp up to a new level of training and intensity.
